Based out of their Brussels studio, Thierry Botteman and Pierre Dozin areBelgian techno duo, Prope. Both well-renowned producers in their own rights,Thierry spent the 90s working on multi-genres projects from Trip-Hop toUnderground House and was a key component of the studio teams behindRoyksopp and Groove Armada. Equally, Pierre gained his 15 years of studioexperience starting out in Drum n Bass and working with Robert Glasper, JohnPaul Jones, Seun Kuti and Fela’s Egypt80, and labels such as Mute, Ninja Tuneand Deutsche Grammophon.They began working together some time ago, releasing their first track ‘ASMA’ onMark Radford’s Audio Rehab label in May 2017. Garnering widespread DJsupport, they are now signed to a bevy of labels and have begun their ownimprint, OGASM. They’ve teamed up with the neo-classical ensemble, EchoCollective for their exciting new EP ‘Void’.Neil Leiter and Margaret Hermant aka Echo Collective breath new life into amultitude of genres. The collective has gone on to collaborate with Nils Frahm,Johann Johansson, Stars Of the Lid and Erasure.

Their association with nonclassicalartists has certainly ruffled some feathers, take for instance theirreinterpretations of Radiohead’s Amnesiac or their treatment of 80s Popsensations Erasure’s latest album, World Be Gone. Pairing Prope and EchoCollective is surely a match made in heaven.The VOID EP features four tracks, two of which are collaborations. Opening with‘Void’ the pairing of the duos is clear to see and a treat for the senses. Deeplyemotive and wildly original, ‘Void’ sashays onto the floor and beguiles you withclever instrumentation and a solid percussive underbelly. ‘Backslider’ sees Prope power forward into more recognisable Techno waters. Never far from melody, itmarries the orchestration of the likes of Booka Shade with the guttural energy ofAdam Beyer. ‘Another Void’ sees Echo Collective take charge for a sonic journeyof some merit. Powerful and understated. Rounding off the EP is the summerysounds of ‘Neve’. Decidedly lighter in tone than the rest, it is no less energeticand dance floor-ready.The first original version of Void will include a music video directed by theacclaimed Belgian producer Damien Chapelle, with a second longer versionhaving a more Ambient/ Avant-Garde vibe.
