A new addition has come in the Volca family of portable synths this year. After the “Beats”, “Keys”, “Bass” and “Sample”, it's the time for the most lovely FM synthesis method to join Korg’s tiny, but powerful, synth series.
With 3-voice polyphony, 6 operators and 32 algorithms, Volca FM reproduces the legendary’s Yamaha DX7 sound engine decently. Moreover, it is super easy to program this portable FM synth, unlike the DX7, that had been like a nightmare, every time you tried to program it’s iconic sounds. Metallic percussion, leads, basses and all kind of effects are what make FM synthesis so popular, and Volca FM does it well. It can also accept DX7 patch data via SYS/SYS-EX files. In addition to the features, mentioned above, it comes with a chorus effect, so you can add warmness and depth to your sound.

Volca FM comes with the same useful 16-step sequencer, as in Bass and Keys models for creating patterns and phases with touch sensitive buttons, that you can store for later recalling. With the motion sequence function, you can record your parameter changes in real time, which is useful to create very interesting sounds. Plus, it can be used, as a live performance tool. The Warp Active Step allows you to create various sequences, even when the length is fewer than 16-steps, which makes it really interesting, when playing along with other synths. For the first time in the Volca family, an arpeggiator has been added, and on top of that, having 9 arpeggiator types. Additionally, the chain feature motif enhances creativity in developing patterns.

Like the other Volcas, it is portable, battery operated and has a built in speaker. Of course, it can be synced to the entire family the usual way. Its price is approximately 135€.

Μια νέα προσθήκη έγινε την φετινή χρονιά στην οικογένεια των φορητών synth της Volca. Μετά από το “Beats”, “Keys”, “Bass” and “Sample”, ήρθε η ώρα για την πιο ωραία FM μέθοδο σύνθεσης να ενταχθεί στην Korg και στο πιο μικρό, αλλά και παράλληλα, πανίσχυρο synth.

Με 3-voice polyphony, 6 operators και 32 αλγόριθμους, το Volca FM έρχεται να αναπαράγει αξιοπρεπώς, το θρυλικό sound engine του Yamaha DX7. Είναι επίσης, πανεύκολο να προγραμματίσεις αυτό το φορητό FM synth, σε αντίθεση με το DX7, που ήταν πραγματικός εφιάλτης στον προγραμματισμό των εικονικών του ήχων. Μεταλλικά percussion, leads, μπάσα και όλων τον ειδών τα εφέ, είναι αυτά, που κάνουν την FM μέθοδο σύνθεσης τόσο δημοφιλή. Και το Volca FM το κάνει καλά. Το Volca FM συνοδεύεται με τον ίδιο χρήσιμο 16-step sequencer για την δημιουργία μοτίβων και σταδίων με εξαιρετικά ευαίσθητα πλήκτρα, τα οποία μπορείς να αποθηκεύσεις και να ανακαλέσεις αργότερα, όπως με τα μοντέλα Bass and Keys. Με την λειτουργία ακολουθίας κίνησης μπορείς να καταγράψεις τις παραμετρικές αλλαγές σε πραγματικό χρόνο, πράγμα, που είναι χρήσιμο για την δημιουργία ιδιαίτερων ήχων, όπως επίσης, σαν εργαλείο για live εκτέλεση. Το Warp Active Step επιτρέπει την δημιουργία διάφορων ακολουθιών, ακόμα και όταν το μήκος είναι μικρότερο από 16-steps, το οποίο το κάνει πολύ ενδιαφέρον, όταν παίζεις ταυτόχρονα με άλλα synth. Για πρώτη φορά στην οικογένεια της Volca ένας arpeggiator προστίθεται, και μάλιστα, με εννιά τύπους arpeggiator. Επιπρόσθετα, το χαρακτηριστικό μοτίβο αλυσίδα ενισχύει την δημιουργικότητα τον μοτίβων.

Όπως και τα άλλα Volcas, είναι φορητό, λειτουργεί με μπαταρίες και έχει ενσωματωμένο ηχείο. Φυσικά, μπορεί να συνδεθεί με όλη την οικογένεια της Volca με τον κλασσικό τρόπο. Η τιμή του κυμαίνεται στα 135€.
