Tendts consists of Fotis and Christos. They are two young and very talented brothers from Thessaloniki. Their work has been released by labels like the Berlin-based Project Mooncircle, the Lower Parts and lately, the Fair Weather Friends Records. We talked with them about their experience at the Sonar Festival, the electronic scene in Greece and their future plans.

Hello guys. Thank you very much for this interview!

You have just returned from the Sonar Festival. What were your feelings when you got up on stage? What did you gain from this experience?

Thank you for the invite! Feelings were of course many and intense. Awe is the first that comes to mind! Playing music at a festival that you’ve been following for years – and especially of this importance- is truly amazing! Not only because of the bigger-than-life stages but also, the very famous names that complete this whole experience. Fortunately, there was no (much) (haha) anxiety and this was for the reason that with such a great organisation, everything was on point the way they should be. In fact, we returned with much inspiration to continue doing what we do and with beautiful images on our minds – either on or off stage!

There are many kinds of electronic music. How would you describe yours?

We are not the right people to answer this because when we try to, we always ‘fight’! It is definitely electronic music, made with love and care. At times with many organic elements which you can either dance to or not!

What is your view on the Greek electronic scene? Are there any other artists that you like and believe they’re making good music? Would you like to mention a few?

The Greek electronic scene is (oddly enough) still at its very beginnings. There are some people and teams that create nice stuff with lots of inspiration. So, all the focus falls upon them! They are the ones who- along with some Greek labels and artists – helped build and continue this attempt so as we can tell that yes, this scene truly exists! But in order to do so, people must follow as well. As we realise though, this is happening so, there is something going right in all this. Of course there are artists we like and there are many of them. Some of the releases that we liked and used in our music are:

What are your plans for the future as regards production? Shall we expect something new? Are we seeing you at any live in the near future?

We are working on many things simultaneously at the time, with most important our second album- which has started taking shape. Slowly yet steadily, in order to bring to the listener what we want –in the way we desire. We are also working on two EP, the one of the two is for the Athens- based Nutty Wombat. So, to answer the question directly, yes you may have to expect some things from us in the future. As regards lives, we will be in Thessaloniki, at the roof of Fragile on the 21st of July for a unique and summer live along with friends. Also, on the 5th of August, at Saristra Festival and on September at Reworks Festival- for which we can’t wait! Hopefully, we will organise a mini tour around Europe in the beginning of fall.

ΟΙ Tendts, ο Φώτης και ο Χρήστος είναι δύο νέα και πολύ ταλαντούχα αδέρφια από τη Θεσσαλονίκη.Εχουν κυκλοφορίες σε label όπως: την βερολινέζικη Project Mooncircle, Lower Parts,και πρόσφατα και στην Weather Friends Records.Μιλήσαμε μαζι τους για την εμπειρία τους στο Sonar festival ,την ελεκτρονική σκηνή στην Ελλάδα και για τα μελλοντικά τους σχέδια.

Γεια σας παιδιά ευχαριστώ πολύ γι' αυτήν τη συζήτηση!

Δεν εχει πολλές μέρες που επιστρέψατε από to Sonar Festival. Ποια ηταν τα συναισθήματα σας οταν ανεβήκατε στo stage του Sonar Festival; Τι αποκομίσατε απο αυτην σας την εμπειρια;

Εμείς ευχαριστούμε για την πρόσκληση! Τα συναισθήματα προφανώς αρκετά και έντονα! Δέος είναι το πρώτο που μας έρχεται στο μυαλό! Το να παίζεις σε ένα φεστιβάλ που παρακολουθείς χρόνια και ειδικά τέτοιου μεγέθους είναι πραγματικά εκπληκτικό! Όχι μόνο για τα υπερμεγέθη stages και τα πολύ δυνατά ονόματα που το πλαισιώνουν μα για την συνολική εμπειρία! Ευτυχώς άγχος δεν υπήρχε (πολύ) (χαχαχαχ) κι αυτό διότι με τόσο καλή διοργάνωση δεν υπήρχε περιθώριο για κάτι τέτοιο μιας και όλα έγιναν στην ώρα τους και όπως ακριβώς έπρεπε! Στην ουσία γυρίσαμε με τρομερή όρεξη να συνεχίσουμε να κάνουμε αυτό που κάνουμε και με πανέμορφες εικόνες στο μυαλό είτε on stage είτε off stage!

Υπάρχουν πολλά είδη ηλεκτρονικής μουσικής. Πώς θα περιγράφατε το δικό σας ηχο;

Δεν είμαστε οι ιδανικοί για να απαντήσουμε κάτι τέτοιο μιας και πολύ συχνά πέφτει βρισίδι όταν κάνουμε αυτή τη συζήτηση! Σίγουρα είναι ηλεκτρονική μουσική με αγάπη και προδέρμ, κάποιες φορές και αρκετά οργανικά στοιχεία, την οποία μπορείς να χορέψεις η και όχι!

Ποια είναι η γνώμη σας για την ελληνική ηλεκτρονική σκηνή; Υπάρχουν άλλοι καλλιτέχνες που σας αρέσουν και πιστεύετε ότι κάνουν καλή μουσική;

Η ελληνική ηλεκτρονική σκηνή είναι (παραδόξως) ακόμη στα γενοφάσκια της! Υπάρχουν κάποιοι άνθρωποι και ομάδες που κάνουν πράγματα και τα κάνουν μάλιστα σωστά και με μπόλικο μεράκι, άρα όλο το βάρος πέφτει πάνω τους! Αυτοί μαζί με κάποιες ελληνικές δισκογραφικές και καλλιτέχνες είναι που βοηθούν να χτιστεί μα και να συνεχιστεί όλο τούτο το εγχείρημα ωστέ να μπορούμε να πούμε αργότερα πως ενδεχομένως υπάρχει αυτή η σκηνή όντως! Μα για να γίνει αυτό θα πρέπει να ακολουθήσει κι ο κόσμος. Απ ότι βλέπουμε βέβαια όλο και μεγαλώνει τούτο εδώ οπότε κάτι συμβαίνει σωστά! Βεβαίως και υπάρχουν καλλιτέχνες που μας αρέσουν, και αρκετοί μάλιστα! Κάποιες κυκλοφορίες που ακούσαμε τελευταία και γκρουβάραμε με δαύτες είναι:

Πια είναι τα μελλοντικά σας σχέδια οσο αναφορά τις παραγωγές; Να περιμένουμε κατι καινούργιο; Θα σας δούμε σε κάποιο live το επόμενο διάστημα;

Έχουμε αρκετά πράγματα που δουλεύουμε ταυτόχρονα αυτή την περίοδο, με το πιο σημαντικό προφανώς να είναι το δεύτερο άλμπουμ μας το οποίο σιγά σιγά παίρνει μορφή. Αργά μα σταθερά βέβαια για να μεταφέρουμε ακριβώς αυτό που θέλουμε να πούμε στον ακροατή με τον τρόπο τον οποίο εμείς θέλουμε. Επίσης δουλεύουμε πάνω σε 2 EP το ένα εκ των δύο για την Αθηναική Nutty Wombat. Οπότε για να απαντήσουμε και στην ερώτηση ευθέως, ναι μάλλον έχετε πράγματα να περιμένετε από εμάς στο μέλλον. Όσον αφορά τα live θα μας πετύχετε Θεσσαλονίκη στην ταράτσα του Fragile στις 21/07 για ένα ιδιαίτερο και καλοκαιρινό live παρέα με φίλους, επίσης στις 05/08 στο Saristra Festival και Σεπτέμβριο στο Reworks Festival οπού το περιμένουμε πως και πως. Τέλος εάν όλα πάνε καλά και τα καταφέρουμε αρχές Φθινοπώρου θα κάνουμε ακόμη ένα mini tour στην Ευρώπη!
